What The Linkroll is
The Linkroll is a free, hand-maintained roll of the web — right now 793 websites typed by people into 22 categories and served as plain monospace text. It is the link roll of the early net rebuilt for today: you scroll by subject and turn up sites a search engine would never surface, instead of typing keywords and hoping.
How we review
A person reads every submission before it ships. We confirm the site is real and reachable, drop it on the right roll, and pin a short description pulled from the page itself. Malware, scams and empty doorway pages get bounced.
Outbound links carry rel="nofollow" — The Linkroll is a directory, not a place to buy ranking. Tending the roll by hand is exactly what stops it rotting into link spam.
Always free
There is no paid tier and no "priority review" fee. The roll grows because real owners add real sites, not because anyone paid to jump the queue.
Who runs it
The Linkroll is kept by a small editorial team that reads submissions and tends the categories. Spot a line that is broken or filed wrong? Tell us and we will sort it.
Add your site
If you run a legitimate website, roll it in in under a minute — pick a category, paste the URL, and we handle the description.
